Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse 2025
The New Moon in Aires surges forward with bold intensity on 29th March. It is accompanied by a partial solar eclipse and a host of planets still in Pieces. This cosmic picture provides a bridge between the first and the last sign of the zodiac, ensuring this is a time for appreciating the cyclical nature of endings and beginnings, of deaths and rebirths. This New Moon we are invited to step away from who we were and consider who we are now, and what we make this mean.
Traditionally, solar eclipses are catalysts for profound and transformative change; gateways to new ways of being with the power to illuminate hidden truths, both great and small, in our inner and outer worlds. Despite being only a partial eclipse, this will add a deeper intensity to the energy around this New Moon. It encourages us to spend even just a few moments honouring the journey we have taken to get to here, before we move on once more.
The eclipse itself, marks the conclusion of a two-year cosmic conversation between Aries and Libra. Since 2023, this influence has invited us to consider the intricate integration of opposing forces: individual desires verses the needs of others, independence versus the need to collaborate and connect in partnership, and solitude versus union.
Libra reminds us there is harmony to be found in all states of being, and this interplay between polarities has offered fertile ground for deep personal growth, transformation in relationships, and reflection on how we engage with ourselves and the world. Ultimately, this marks the culmination of a powerful journey, that as it has unfolded, has gifted us with opportunities for both personal and collective evolution.
Sometimes, it is not until we reflect back, with the wonderful gift of hindsight, that we notice the journey we have been on. Whether big or small, close to home or far and wide, whether we notice our own momentum forward of feel stuck, we have all been on a journey even when we feel we have stood still.
The New Moon, becomes the perfect time for introspection and reflection, a time to look back over the last two-years and consider:
How is your relationship with yourself and with others?
What do you know about yourself now that you did not know two-years ago?
What transformations, if any, have occurred over this time?
What have you learned about confidently standing in your power, while retaining a sense of connection?
It’s all about evolving
When we reflect on the energies of the New and Full Moons, it’s easy to view them as isolated events or fragmented moments in time. However, the cosmos is in constant motion; an endless cycle of movement with no fixed beginning or end just an ongoing journey. What does this mean for us? Simply put, each lunar event presents an opportunity for integration and personal evolution. When we engage with this process consciously, every phase acts as a stepping stone to the next, allowing us to grow, transform, evolve, in a journey of self-discovery that fosters deep and lasting change.
Following the previous New Moon in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, we were invited to honour the space of endings and beginnings, death and rebirth. Encouraged to envision the world we wanted to create, by planting seeds of intention with attention, we were offered the opportunity to dream new realties and ways of being. The Full Moon in Virgo then called us toward radical self-acceptance, urging us to release what no longer serves us. It was an opportunity to reflect on who we are versus who we could become, to pause, and to reconnect with what truly matters.
Now, under this New Moon, after all this previous work of reflecting, shedding, releasing and dreaming, we stand at the threshold of new beginnings. The bold, initiating energy of Aries forms a bridge between our past and present selves, who we were and who we are now. Aries brings the fire of motivation and the drive to act, to propel us forward on our path of self-discovery and personal growth.
Under this New Moon, Aires calls us to embody the spirit of the trailblazer, compelled to take the decisive steps needed to embark on something truly new. Yet, with strong Piscean energy still swimming in the sky, we may feel unsure which path we now need to take. As the old is still dissolving and the new is yet to become clear, timing will be everything, even though Aries is not known for it’s patience!
While trailblazing can feel like an immense responsibility, it doesn’t have to be on a grand scale. Personal changes might mean you’re the first in your family to pursue higher education, the first to move to a new place, maybe you are about to start a new exercise routine, a healthy eating plan or even a new job. Perhaps you are the first to break generational thinking and behaviour patterns that no longer serve you. What matters is the presence of something new, however small or profound, that marks a shift in your personal journey.
This is a moment to consciously choose to take control of an area of ourselves or our lives. Aries feels things intensely, so this is a time to explore and make friends with our feelings, to experience them fully and authentically no matter how fiery they may be. It is a time to have faith that we are ready for whatever comes next.
Ask yourself:
In what areas of your life might you be being called to be a trailblazer?
Who are you now? How have you grown and evolved?
What different life do you envision for yourself?
What is it the whispers in your heart and soul are asking you to call in?
What might be awakening within you?
The ram is far from sheepish
The spirit of Aries is about choosing life, about playing to win and fighting for our place in a world that can sometimes feel challenging and even unwelcoming. While I consider myself an optimist, we can all agree that life throws its fair share of curveballs, moments when we find ourselves, as Queen famously put it, under pressure. Aries energy gives us the courage to face these challenges head-on, even thrive in the face of adversity, it is the embodiment of courage under fire.
Aries, with the influence of its ruling planet Mars, encourages us to reflect on where we may have allowed fear to grab the steering wheel of our life, and to consider how we might take it back. Allowing something or someone else to steer in our lives can, in the long run, heighten our stress and frustration. It is very much like all our fiery energy gets forced inwards when it has nowhere else to go, leaving us lacking in energy, demotivated and depressed and more often than not, stressed.
At its core, Aries teaches us that growth, transformation, and change are never passive. They don’t happen by chance, nor can others do the work for us. As a cardinal fire sign, Aires urges us to embody courage, leadership, action, and determination. It reminds us that if we want something, then we need to be prepared to go out and claim it, it rarely falls into our laps.
However, stepping-up and taking a leading role in our life can, at times, require us to face down our fears, and fight for things that we really want. And while some of us may not be entirely comfortable with that more competitive trait, it is, as nature often shows us, an innate part of life.
The ram is not sheepish in claiming its space, its power; telling the world it has a stake here and is prepared to deliver a quick headbutt when the need arises. Yet, embracing our inner ‘badassery’ isn’t necessarily about conflict for conflict’s sake, after all who among us would deny the right to fight for love, peace, justice, or the protection of those we hold dear? Nor does embracing our warrior/warrioress give us a free pass to be reckless, aggressive, or disruptive. This is where Aries energy is often misunderstood.
True Aries strength is about learning to wield courage wisely, to lead, to innovate, and to break new ground with integrity. While Aires might call us to take bold action, strive for excellence and celebrate our victories, just as importantly, it challenges us to face setbacks with grace and humour. It takes real maturity to channel fiery ambition into humility when things don’t go our way.
Creation, change, and transformation are active processes. If we want to reclaim ourselves, our lives, and our personal evolution, we must do something. While we are conditioned to believe prioritising ourselves is selfish, Aries teaches us we have a right to stake a claim in our lives. We have a right to live a life where our needs are met, and to make decisions that are healthy for us on every level. We have a right to choose life!
Where are you ready to take the lead and break new ground?
Where do you need to cultivate courage under fire?
Where has fear grabbed the steering wheel and how might you take it back?
The spark and not the fire
For all its enthusiasm, Aires is only the spark; the initiator. It provides the energy to ignite the flame, but it's up to us to keep it burning. Without sustained effort, that initial spark can quickly fade. Every fresh beginning demands endurance beyond the first burst of excitement. Yet, Aries’ call to action is potent and necessary, it helps us break through inertia, fuels momentum against the odds, rekindles passion, and brings us back to our deepest sense of purpose. While Aries may only be the start of the journey, it provides a necessary step, after all if we never aim and shoot our arrows, if we never dare to take the shot, we will never hit the target.
As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, speaks to our identity, our physical vitality, and our autonomy. Under the reflective energy of the New Moon, we are called inwards, to listen deeply to and honour the truth of our hearts, over the opinions and expectations of others. We are not far off the mark if we channel our inner Frank Sinatra and declare “I did it my way.”
Aries invites us to boldly initiate, to step into new chapters that reflect who we are now, acknowledging that discovering purpose and creating meaningful change is an active process of courage. We must participate fully in our lives, and stand and fight for what we value deeply in our heart and soul, and yes, this means we must play and play to win.
What seeds of change will you be planting?
Where are you placing your focus and how are you actively using your energy?
Where is Aries calling you to action? Where do you need to play to win?
What do you value deeply and how will you cultivate this?
