The Full Moon in Pisces swims into the skies on 7th September. Yet, this is no ordinary full moon. It is accompanied by two dramatic spectacles: a lunar eclipse and a Blood Moon.
These phenomena, both celestial and mythic, have long been seen as harbingers of transformation on personal and more spiritual levels.
The eclipse is considered a culmination and threshold; a time when endings are wrapped in the promise of beginnings, where old patterns are released and fresh opportunities embraced.
Occurring in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, the eclipse takes on an especially profound tone. It is as though the Moon lingers at the threshold of a vast ocean, asking us to release what has grown heavy. It mirrors the stories ready to dissolve and invites us to trust the unseen currents waiting to carry us forward.
This eclipse whispers: let go of what has lost its meaning, trust the flow of life, and remember that even in the darkest waters, light refracts into beauty.
Ask yourself: What am I being asked to release so that something more alive can grow?
The Power of a Blood Moon
Science tells us the mechanics: Earth casts its shadow across the face of the Full Moon, and refracted sunlight paints it in deep crimson, creating the Blood Moon. Myth and astrology remind us of the meaning: Eclipses mark pivot points; a cosmic reset, a turning of the page.
For centuries, cultures around the world have regarded such eclipses as omens of transformation, fertility, and awakening. They remind us that life itself is cyclical: creation, release, renewal, and that creation and release are not opposites but partners.
When Eclipses arise, they often correspond with sudden shifts, relationships changing form, truths emerging, or long-stagnant energies finally dissolving. Under their influence, we are invited not to cling but to allow life to shape us anew.
During this eclipse, avoid rushing to manifest. Instead, lean into reflection, journalling, meditation, or stillness. Allow clarity to emerge naturally.
Consider: What dream, story, or illusion is ready to dissolve so I can swim freely?
The Pisces–Virgo Axis: Mystery Meets Mastery
Every full moon lights up a polarity: the Moon in one sign, the Sun in its opposite. Here, the Pisces Moon opposes the Virgo Sun. Together they form a sacred dialogue: a dance of mystery and mastery, surrender and service, dream and discipline, faith and discernment.
Pisces is the dreamer, poet, and mystic. It dissolves boundaries, opening us to compassion, imagination, and our connection to the great web of life. Its wisdom is surrender, trusting intuition, and finding peace not in resistance, but in flowing with the tide.
While Pisces draws us into the unknown, Virgo’s Sun reminds us of the sacredness of the ordinary. Healing is often found not in grand visions but in tending the small details. Virgo grounds us, encouraging us to do the work that matters, one step at a time. Virgo teaches us that mastery does not come from perfection but from devotion.
The true teacher is the one who serves, who “pays forward” what they have learned, who uplifts others through skill and care. True service is not dazzling, but consistent and meaningful.
Pisces’ call to merge with the infinite can become a refusal to anchor in the finite, leading to confusion and disarray. Virgo, by contrast, brings clarity and steadies the tide. It asks us to refine, discern, and commit to the daily practices that sustain us, an earthly counterpoint to Pisces’ ethereal waters.
This eclipse highlights both ends of the spectrum. It asks us to soften Pisces’ illusions without losing its compassion, and to temper Virgo’s striving without abandoning its devotion. While Pisces offers us the dream, keeps our hearts open and possibility alive, Virgo helps us to follow through and anchor that dream into physical form, to tend to the dream with care.
The middle path is one of integration where we weave their gifts together: surrender with discernment, discipline and service infused with grace.
Therefore, if emotions feel overwhelming this Pisces Full Moon, borrow Virgo’s medicine: break the moment into one clear step. Complete a small task with intention, or take a walk in nature. Small acts anchor us in the now.
Consider: Am I escaping reality or resisting it? What daily rituals could help me stay grounded as I navigate Piscean waters? Where can I pay forward the wisdom and kindness I’ve received?
Playing in the Shadows
Eclipses have a way of drawing up what has long been hidden. In Pisces, this may feel like the surfacing of unconscious patterns, dreams, or emotional undercurrents that we’ve kept beneath the surface.
Pisces’ shadow may tempt us into dreams and fantasy, avoidance, or playing the victim rather than taking responsibility. Seeing what we hope and want to see, rather than what is really there.
Virgo may entrap us in an endless critique, anxiety, or the impossible pursuit of perfection. We can fall prey to analysis paralysis, overthinking, overplanning, holding ourselves hostage to exacting, unreachable standards, unable to rest in the beauty and freedom of ‘good enough’.
This eclipse invites us not to shame ourselves, but to witness patterns with compassion and remember they are distortions of gifts. In Pisces, the salve is forgiveness; in Virgo, the medicine is humility, true mastery is service, not flawless performance.
During and just after the Full Moon, try shadow journalling. Writing down a recurring fear, criticism, or escape pattern, then ask: What is this really trying to protect me from? Naming the fear often lessens its power.
Ask yourself: Where can I release stories of not-enoughness or perfection, and choose forgiveness and peace instead?
The Call of the North Node
This eclipse aligns with the North Node, a point of karmic growth and destiny. The Node of the Moon speaks to destiny: the South Node represents what we are leaving behind. The North Node points toward where we are called to grow.
At this time, the message is clear: we are asked to release the familiar and step into the unknown. Endings are not punishments, but purposeful gateways towards beginnings that matter.
It may feel as though the ground beneath our feet is shifting. Old structures, beliefs, or relationships may dissolve. And certainly the turbulence of these last few weeks on a grander scale has left many of us scrabbling for a hold or an anchor. But it is these very dissolutions that allow something more aligned to emerge, not just for us but for humanity as a whole.
The North Node in Pisces calls us to trust intuition, to surrender control and have faith in the unseen, to trust that this dissolution is not chaos, but a re-weaving of life into a new pattern. No amount of logic or planning can substitute for the wisdom of flow. When we cling, we suffer. When we release, the tide carries us exactly where we need to be.
This eclipse considers creating a small ritual of release. Write down something you are ready to let go of, a role, expectation, or illusion, and burn or bury the paper, symbolically releasing and returning it to the elements.
You might also ask: What am I being invited to trust, even without proof?
Neptune’s Waters and Jupiter Trine
Pisces is ruled by Neptune and Jupiter, depending on whether you ascribe to modern or classical astrology, or like me, consider the wisdom of both.
Neptune is the planet of dreams, illusions, compassion, and spiritual longing. It connects us to awe, imagination, and the infinite; it dissolves boundaries between the self and the cosmos, ego and soul. It is both the window into mystery and the fog that obscures our sight.
Neptune’s influence may heighten our sensitivity. Emotions may surge, boundaries may blur, and the line between vision and reality may be hard to discern. Dreams may become vivid and intuition stronger. We may question if we are engaging with illusion or reality, evidence or intuition, escapism of vision. But Neptune invites us to see the world not only as it is, but as it could be.
As the old hermetic saying goes: As above, so below; as within, so without. The waters of Neptune and Pisces remind us that the mysteries we see reflected in the sky are mirrored within our own depths.
You might find it helpful to keep a notebook by your bed. Set your intention to remember what arises and record your dreams as soon as you wake. They may hold symbolic guidance for what you are releasing or stepping into.
Jupiter is equally impactful this eclipse. The Pisces Moon forms a harmonious, flowing trine to Jupiter in Cancer, a blessing in the midst of intensity. Jupiter’s influence softens the eclipse with a gift of faith, abundance, and possibility. Jupiter encourages us to see the bigger picture within our challenges and find wisdom in everything we do. The trine speaks to abundance through generosity, opportunities through meaningful collaboration, and dreams that are nurtured in the waters of belonging.
Ask yourself: What deeper truths are my dreams revealing? What does faith look like for me now?
The Collective Mirror
On a collective level, this Blood Moon occurs against a backdrop of global instability and a world fractured by fear, chaos, greed, and division. Pisces asks us to reflect on our shared humanity. It invites us to consider what we absorb emotionally from the collective, and how we transmute it.
Together, Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer form a current of compassion, reminding us we grow not by climbing over one another, but by weaving into a greater whole, into a network of kinship, legacy, of shared dreams and collective care. Pisces reminds us we are each drops of water in a vast ocean, separate and inseparable from one another.
The invitation is to see ourselves as both students and teachers, apprentices and mentors, weaving our growth into service for the greater good. Committing one small act of kindness daily creates ripples that accumulate into a legacy. Whether it is listening deeply, offering support, acceptance, and kindness to another, or tending the earth, your actions matter.
Pisces asks us all: Are we drowning in despair, or can we be conduits of compassion? What kind of world are we shaping through our choices? Will it be a legacy of compassion, connection, and care, or a world hardened by fear and disconnection? How are we contributing to the collective story humanity is writing?
What future are you dreaming into being?
Resting in Still Waters
The Blood Moon in Pisces is both a culmination and a threshold; it is both an ending and a beginning. It is the tide that draws away what no longer serves and the wave that carries us into new waters. It invites us to forgive, to surrender illusions, to release perfectionism, to ground ourselves in what matters, and to trust in the mysterious flow of life.
As the crimson Moon rises, may it remind you: our lives are drops in a much larger ocean. Life is not only a mystery, it is made of mystery. And within that mystery lies grace. The boundlessness of Pisces reminds us, we are all part of something greater, and we belong to one another.
The eclipse is not here to undo you. It is here to renew you. Trust the tide. Release your grip. And be carried forward.
I looked at the moon last night, It made look at it in a differant way thank you for making me think of looking in a new light.
